This week we have been finishing off our topic about Ourselves.  Here is a picture of our finished display outside our classroom.

Next week we are starting our new topic about Toys.  We all need to bring a “character toy” to school on Monday.  Our toy will be doing everything we do!  Even going to assembly and the hall for dinner.  The toy must be our best friend.

Here are the things the children remember about this week.

Saffron liked learning how to use bats in PE and finding out about ourselves.  Ocean-Rose likes playing in the kitchen.  Megan likes playing in the quiet room.  Lewis has enjoyed having the pirate ship to play with.  Brandon enjoyed learning about shapes, and drawing a picture using 2D shapes.  Millie (H) enjoyed learning about 3D shapes.  Harry liked being able to move his fish up on our target board.  Amye liked entering the cycling safety competition.  Alfie enjoys Jolly Phonics.  Darcy enjoyed everything.  Mia likes dressing up.  Megan remembered using coloured straws to make 2D shapes.  Ellie likes playing with the puppets.  Lily remembered that we have finished our big job making our autobiographies.  Mrs Sowter remembered that we have finished making our plates of healthy food.   Well what another busy week we have all had!

Wow!   We get to the end of the week and write our blog as a class; then we realise how much we have done.  Here are the things we remembered about this week.

Ocean-Rose remembered that we made a story board to help us think about ideas for a story.  Lennon remembered that we used our story board to make a book.  Rachel remembered that we have been learning more tricky words.  Gary-Dean enjoyed playing sleeping lions with Mrs Sowter.  Dylan enjoyed drawing a pudding using the computers.  Ellie reminded us that we have had our pictures taken in the hall.  Megan and most of the children have enjoyed playing (some like to work all the time!)  Karni liked getting his picture taken and we all made letters with our bodies for our display.  Toddy enjoyed using pastels to draw his dinner.  Karni has come to our school from Australia, and has enjoyed his first week.  This week we won the Head Teacher’s Award.  Dylan remembered learning our harvest festival songs. We all sang our class song perfectly and got another marble in the jar.  Alexia remembered that we have been learning about number names.  Brandon has been to his first School Council meeting.

Here are  a couple of pictures of our School Councillor, telling the rest of the class about his job and answering questions about the meeting.

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about story writing.  We have read a lot of different books.  We have discussed the characters, settings and events.  We have been working on our own story in a garden setting.  Each group have had to think of a story and think of which character to play.  They worked together to act out their story.  Here you can see one group acting out the begining, middle and end of the story.

The rabbit has got lost.  Everyone looks for the rabbit in the garden.   They find the lost rabbit.  Next week we will be writing our sentences to go with our pictures.

Things the children enjoyed this week.

We have had a problem Houston!  We sat down on Friday afternoon and we all brainstormed what we had done over the week.  Unfortunately, I did not update the post, and it timed out and we lost all the text!  Never mind, here are the things we remembered and enjoyed.  We have been learning about money this week.  We learned about which football skills we are good at in PE.  We have been designing healthy plates of food for a restaurant in the classroom with pastels, and in the IT suite using an art program.  We also learnt how to log in to the computers using our new username and passwords.  We have been working hard on our literacy stories and learning new sounds in phonics (th, sh, and ch).  We have also been using the photocopier to copy our pictures of ourselves for work next week, and took each others portraits using a digital camera.  Oh, and we also had time to play!
