Well done 1L we won the Head Teacher’s Award again, but by only one ticket!

Well done 1L, we collected 11 shoe-boxes for the Samaritan’s Purse Appeal.  We hope that these shoe-boxes will bring some joy and happiness to poor children around the world who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Well done 1L, we have had another busy week.  We have all been helpers in Santa’s Workshop this week.  We have been busy learning about halves, and quarters, by making snowflakes.  We have made lots of things for the corridor displays (a shared enterprise between 1L and 1S).  We have been measuring in cm using rulers, to make the strips for our paper chains.  We have been writing wishes for our wish tree.  We have made penguins for our corridor display and talked about shapes, and positional language.  We gave our penguins names.  We have done a lot of painting and printing.  We have been using our game design to start making our own board game to bring home at Christmas. Oh, and we have had a little time testing toys in the workshop ready for Christmas!

We have had another very busy week, and didn’t manage to fit in our usual sit down to talk about what we have done!

Well done 1L, we have all our marbles in our jar for being such a good class.   We have been thinking about a class reward.  The children had to write down what sort of party they wanted and a list of things that they wanted at the party.  It looks like a disco, with ice-cream, maybe the most popular choice.

We all dressed up for Children in Need as the person we want to be when we grow up.  We drew a picture, wrote a sentence; then we either coloured it or painted it.  Can you work out what everyone wanted to be?.

Here is a picture of some of the children thinking about how to describe smells, using adjectives.

Here are the main things we have been doing this week.

Alfie remembered, after a bit of “teeth pulling” that we had been thinking about describing words for smells.  Megan and Blosssom remembered that we investigated spinning toys; we were finding out what worked best.  Ocean-Rose remembered that we had to try spinning them on different surfaces, like the carpet and the wet area floor.  Alexia remember that we had made wobbly toys.  Macey remembered that we had to make then bounce back up.  Ellie and Megan remembered that we drew and wrote instructions for how to make our wobbly toys.  Jake enjoyed meeting Boris for the first time.  Darcy said that Boris likes playing games.  Millie (H) remembered that Boris is helping us with our phonics.  Ellie remembered that we had to stop and remember the soldiers on Wednesday.  Faith remembered that we won the Head Teacher’s Award.  Macey reminded us that we have not had to send anyone to another class for a long time and that no one has had to miss playtime all week. Karni remembered that we have started learning our Christmas songs.  Alexia told us that we have nearly all our marbles in the jar.  Millie (H) remembered that we thought about describing words  when we were feeling different materials,  some of us got messy!  Ellie remembered that we had sorted toys using a Venn diagram.  Megan remembered that we have been learning about measuring.  Macey remembered that we had been learning about position in PE.  Lily remembered that we have been learning about balancing.  Mrs Sowter remembered that we had researched about a wildlife safari park in ICT.

Here are some of the children’s finished spinning top designs.

Another busy week in 1L.  I don’t know how we fit it all in!  Especially since we only had four days this week.

Here are the children’s thoughts on the week.

Dylan enjoyed making the poppies using tools in the art program.  Darcy liked using the pastels to draw a firework picture.  Saffron likes doing all the work.  Aidan likes doing everything.  Lennon remembered that we have drawn and painted remembrance pictures.  Harry liked doing them too.  Alfie has enjoyed “pencil work”, like writing.  Jake enjoyed doing his firework picture.  Ellie remembered that we watched a video about Guy Fawkes.  Ryan liked learning about the soldiers that died and poppy day.  Megan has enjoyed doing the toys homework.  Blossom enjoyed writing and drawing about our favorite foods, and Alfie remembered that we had been learning about adjectives.  Millie (H) remembered that we have been learning about longer and shorter.  Mrs Sowter and Macey remembered that we have been learning a Teddy Bear Dance.  Amye remembered that we have learn to count large numbers by breaking them up.  Ocean-Rose remembered that we had to count 36 gun power barrels.  We also had to measure a fuse 10cm long.

Here is a picture of our finished menu display.

Here is Aidan making a suprise present for Saffron.  It is a bird with flapping wings.  What a lovely thought.

Here is a picture of Harry and Gary-Dean trying to solve the hardest puzzle in the world!  Gary-Dean has already solved one puzzle, and Mr Lewis has given him a prize.  Mr Lewis has offered a super prize for anyone who can solve this puzzle.

Jake and Aidan  have  enjoyed making our Pink Day flowers.  Megan liked painting her pumpkin mask.  Lewis  and Blossom enjoyed carving the pumpkins.  Millie (H) enjoyed painting our pink pictures using different shades of pink paint.  Declan liked having his picture taken with his toy.  Ellie enjoyed making the scary mummy faces using folded paper.  Matthew enjoyed making mummy faces too.  Karni enjoyed sketching and painting his toy picture.  Alfie enjoyed making pictures of skeletons from art straws.  Gary-Dean enjoyed bringing his toy to school on Monday.   Amye enjoyed the birthday assembly today.  We made pumpkin soup.  Alexia thought it was nice.  Alfie liked dipping the bread in the soup.  Lewis liked the taste of it.  Harry thought it was too sour.  Mia thought it was too thick.  Darcy didn’t like the milky taste.  Ocean-Rose remembered that we have started our new topic about toys.  We did a knowledge harvest to find out what we knew about modern toys and old toys.  We drew the toys in a toy shop.  Millie remembered that we finished our menus.  Darcy remembered that we sorted the children’s names in to sets, and then made graphs using the data.

Thankyou for all the donations for Pink Day, the children raised £20.88.
